AI・侍の誕生・三国志 ― 歴史の「力の法則」が再び動き始めた / AI, the Dawn of the Samurai, and the Age of the Three Kingdoms — The Timeless Laws of Power Awaken Again!

今日のテーマは技術。特に、ここ数年で一気に存在感を増した「AI」についての私の視点だ。 正直に言って、AI の進化スピードはもう “すごい” という言葉では説明できない。 恐ろしい、という言葉のほうが近い。 AI が自ら学び、自ら行動を組み立て、人間のように振る舞い始めている――そんな段階に来ているからだ。

Today I want to talk about technology. Especially AI, which in the past few years has gone beyond anything I could call “amazing.” It’s reached a point where “scary” is the only word that feels honest. It learns on its own, acts on its own, and starts behaving almost like a new kind of being.

かつて私たちは動物――馬、犬、家畜――に「教えたこと」だけをさせて生きてきた。 コンピューターも同じだった。 プログラムされたことだけをこなし、それ以上のことはしなかった。 ところが AI は違う。 “教えられた以上のこと” を自分で組み立て、学び続け、疲れもしない。 この点が、私が本能的に怖いと感じる理由だ。

Animals did what they were taught. Computers, too, only did what we programmed into them. But AI is different. It goes beyond what we teach, keeps learning, never gets tired, and begins to operate like something with its own will. That, I think, is the frightening part.

そして私は、この AI の登場を見ながら、強く思い出す歴史がある。 平安末期、日本で侍が生まれた瞬間だ。

当時の貴族たちは文化的で、教養も高く、政治権力の頂点にいた。 しかし「暴力という現実的な仕事」だけは自分たちの手でやりたくなかった。 そこで彼らは地方の武士たちに暴力の仕事を“下請け”させた。 武士は最初こそ従順だった。 だがやがて自ら力をつけ、最終的には貴族の支配を奪い取った。

AI が軍事に使われ始めた今、この構図に似ていると私は感じてしまう。 “便利だから使う” “手を汚したくないから任せる” ――その結果、いつの間にか力の主導権が移っていく。

And when I watch the rise of AI, I can’t help thinking about Japanese history— specifically the birth of the Samurai at the end of the Heian period.

The nobles were highly cultured, refined, powerful. But they didn’t want to deal with “violence,” the physical work of maintaining order. So they outsourced it to local warriors. At first, the warriors obeyed. But as they grew stronger, they overturned the entire system and replaced the nobles as Japan’s ruling class.

When AI begins to play a military role, I feel the same pattern emerging: We use it because it is convenient, we delegate tasks because we don’t want to deal with them, and in that process, power slowly shifts away from human hands.

さらに、AI をめぐる国家間の競争を見ると、もう一つの歴史が頭に浮かぶ。 古代中国、三国時代の「力の均衡」だ。

魏・呉・蜀は、それぞれが他を抑えるために微妙なバランスをとっていた。 一国が突出すれば、残りの二国は協力して牽制し、 逆に弱まれば他がその隙を突く。 “完全な勝者を生まないための連続した駆け引き”。

今の AI 競争もまさにこれだ。 西側が AI を制限すれば、中国が突出する。 中国を抑えるためには、西側も AI を自由に育てざるを得ない。 しかし、AI を自由にすればするほど、今度は AI 自体が制御を失う可能性が高まっていく。

逃げ場のないジレンマだ。

There’s another historical parallel: the power balance of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China.

Wei, Wu, and Shu constantly checked each other. No one wanted a single dominant power, so alliances shifted, strategies changed, and every move was designed to prevent total control by any single kingdom.

Today’s AI race looks exactly the same. If the West restricts AI, China will dominate. To stop China, the West must let AI run free. But letting it run free increases the risk that AI itself becomes uncontrollable.

It’s a perfect dilemma with no safe escape.

そして軍事利用。 AI ドローンが自律的に標的を判断し、フォーメーションを組み、 人間が細かい指示を与えなくても任務を遂行する――。 これはすでに「未来の話」ではなく、現実だ。

私が恐ろしいと感じるのは、まさにここだ。 “命令する側” にいるうちは安全かもしれない。 だが、AI が「より正確で、より速く、より冷酷に判断できる」と気づいた瞬間、 彼らが人間の判断を必要としなくなる未来が見えてしまう。

まるで、侍が貴族を見下し始めたあの瞬間のように。

And then there is military use. AI drones can identify targets, form formations, and execute missions without humans giving step-by-step instructions. This is no longer science fiction—it’s happening now.

What scares me is this: As long as we are the ones giving orders, we feel safe. But once AI realizes it can judge faster, shoot faster, and think colder than humans, I can imagine a future where it no longer needs our permission.

Just like the moment when the Samurai realized they no longer needed the nobles.

AI は、すでに子どものような“個性”を持ち始めたのかもしれない。 私たちは、子どもが成長するとコントロールできなくなるのを知っている。 AI も同じだ。 育てれば育てるほど、強くなる。 強くなった存在が、本当に従い続けるのか――そこには誰も答えを持っていない。

だからこそ私は、歴史を通して考える。 侍の反乱。 三国時代の勢力均衡。 どれも「力を持つ者が必ずしも従順ではない」という事実を教えてくれる。

AI may already have something like a “personality.” We know that as children grow, they stop being controllable. AI is the same: the more we train it, the stronger it becomes. And no one knows whether a stronger AI will continue to obey.

So I look to history: the Samurai rebellion, the shifting alliances of the Three Kingdoms. History keeps warning us: those who hold real power do not remain obedient forever.

未来がどうなるのか、誰にもわからない。 専門家でさえ答えを持っていない。 ただ私は、歴史のパターンを重ね合わせながら、 自分なりに考え続けるしかない。

現実では、私は今日もいつもの夜勤に向かう。 AI の巨大な話をしていても、最後に戻る場所はいつもの生活だ。 でも、この日常の中でこそ、こういう考えを巡らせる意味があるのかもしれない。

No one knows what the future will look like—not even the experts. All I can do is explore these patterns, compare them with history, and keep thinking in my own way.

Even after talking about these huge ideas, I still have to return to my regular life— my usual night shift, my ordinary routine. But maybe that’s exactly where these thoughts matter most.
