This morning feels calm, and I’m still thinking about yesterday. I met an old friend at a café near my house — something I haven’t done for a long time. That conversation might become one of the turning points of my life. It reminded me how much I love sitting in a café, alone or with someone, with coffee and a book in hand. For years I stopped going, built my own little café corner at home, and convinced myself that was enough. But yesterday, surrounded by quiet chatter and the smell of roasted beans, I realized how much I’ve missed that kind of atmosphere — real human presence, face-to-face conversations, the warmth of being part of the world again.
The café was Komeda Coffee, a nostalgic mix of modern and traditional Japanese style. It gave me a strange sense of comfort — a blend of privacy and connection. And somewhere in that mix, I started to see a small, bright light.
Talking with my friend also reignited an idea I’d left sleeping for years — to build a small NPO, a place where open-minded Japanese people who love learning English and people from abroad struggling to settle into Japanese society can truly meet, talk, and help each other. Japan needs more bridges like that — and I want to create one, however small it begins.
昨日のコーヒーは、ただの一杯ではなかった。 それは静かな「始まり」だったのかもしれない。
Yesterday’s coffee wasn’t just coffee. It was a quiet beginning.
